Part 4 1900-1920 The "Vestal Charge" in 1900 included three churches: Vestal, Vestal Center and Tracy Creek), and fine church building; two even have a steeple and church bells. Vestal Center paid $100 for its bell just before January 1, 1900. The value of the three church together at that time was $8000 (Vestal $3,000; Vestal Center $1,800; and Tracy Creek $1,500). In 1900, the Rev. G.C. Jacobs was our pastor until April when Rev. Hugh Williams came to Vestal. He remained until 1902 when Ira Estes served for four years. He was followed by Asa Callendar in 1906; Seward Terry in 1909; Adelbert Whitaker in 1912; Edwin Cavanaugh in 1913; and William Watson in 1916. |
